Travel Photography: Hawaii
Some product links are affiliate links but all are where I make my gear purchases. You can also find all of my photography gear recommendations here.
Eli and I tend to end most years with a family trip and this year we went to Kauai and the Big Island. The trip is usually a nice way to wind down and catch up before starting a new year. I usually plan to shoot for fun on these trips and never pitch ideas for travel photography shoots to keep things easy.
This year, I was extra grateful not to be shooting any work because all of my equipment decided to simultaneously meltdown. It got so bad that I found myself googling if Mercury was in retrograde (it was). The battery on my little fujifilm instax mysteriously drained on the flight over. My trusty Sigma 35mm that had survived countless international adventures suddenly developed a jiggle that made it nearly unusable by the end of the trip.
Even with the equipment malfunctions, I walked away with a few images I really enjoyed and good reminder to always pack backup equipment on work trips.
